The Mission of the NVSDA is to serve those Veterans who have served our Nation within the Seven Northern Counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Lassen, Siskiyou, Trinity and Shasta.
Since the first North Valley Stand Down in 2006, our goals have been to provide a respite from the streets so that needy and homeless veterans can examine avenues of assistance. We help to place the participants into residential programs, offer employment, and provide follow-up programs of various types. The more intensive services are primarily for the homeless, but all veterans including women and even active duty personnel are welcome to access any services they are eligible for. We offer all new clothing, boots and other basic needs. Through the support of local dentists we offer quality oral health care, as well as follow up care after the event. Through the VA Healthcare System and the Shasta County Public Health Service's "Hope Van", we are also able to provide health services and VA registration to those who are eligible.
The North Valley Stand Down will be funded primarily through monetary and in-kind donations. All monetary donations will be applied to the needs of the veterans. No donated money will be used for salaries. All donations are tax deductible.
Our Meetings are held at the Veterans Hall in Downtown Redding on Yuba Street on the 1st Wednesday of the Month at 1300 hours. The dates are as follows:
July 2nd, August 6th, September 3rd, and in October we will meet weekly on the 1st, 8th, and the 15th.
